Zornhut-Stück

— the wrath-guard device

Meyer's device from the Wrath Guard. Feint a high cut to provoke a rising parry; drop the short edge horizontally into the ear.

Meyer's pedagogy works in three named modes — Zufechten, Krieg, and Abzug. The Zornhut device shows the Zufechten as a provocation: the feint draws their guard up, the real cut arrives where the guard has just left.
