Schielhau

The squinter. A high counter-cut with the short edge, the hands inverted, the gaze deceptive.

You stand in Vom Tag or the Wrath guard with the left foot forward. As the opponent strikes from above, you answer with the short edge — hands turning inward — and step with the right foot to their left side, carrying your head with the blade. The cut meets theirs at a skewed angle that breaks their structure without trading the line. Meyer notes that the Schielhau and the Krumphau are closely related: a diagonal cut delivered from the wrong shoulder is, in his accounting, already a Schielhau.
